WORKING TOGETHER TO HELP TURTLES

Hello from Kelly at Think Turtle Conservation Initiative

THIS IS AN IMPORTANT REQUEST.

We deeply appreciate your desire to help turtles and nests. Your role in this conservation effort is invaluable and we sincerely thank you for it.

Think Turtle is happy to offer guidance to anyone regarding such matters. To do that promptly, when you have a question about a turtle or nest, “PLEASE PHONE OR TEXT US” at 647-606-9537.

To ensure the safety of turtles and nests, we kindly request that you “DO NOT” send Facebook or email messages to Think Turtle about turtles or nests during turtle season, April – October. This is because we are often in the field, and delays in communication could be detrimental to their survival.

Our Facebook page and email are not routinely monitored. Think Turtle is a volunteer grassroots group, and we do not have the finances for internet access when outdoors or the personnel to have someone in the office regularly. The phone is with us constantly, and we quickly respond to phone messages and texts.

Between May and October, we work outdoors for long hours and are never sure when we will be in the office. If someone sends a message about a turtle or nest via Facebook or email, we may not see it until late in the evening or the following day. This delay could be critical for the survival of a turtle or nest, especially during the active turtle season. Your prompt action is crucial.

Turtle and nest inquires are often time-sensitive and require immediate attention. Please phone or text Think Turtle at 647-606-9537.

Note: If a turtle nests on your property, your prompt action is not just important, it’s crucial to the survival of the nest. The nest must be protected as soon as possible, make sure to phone us as soon as the nest is discovered is needing guidance about how to do that. Unprotected nests are often predated within the first 24 hours, emphasizing the urgency of the situation.

Please add Think Turtle Conservation Initiative to your phone address book, 647-606-9537 so our number is on hand should you have a question about a turtle or nest conservation matter. This will ensure that you reach us quickly when needed.

Thank you for looking out for the turtles and their nests!

With Thanks & Appreciation,
